PRESS RELEASE
August 28, 1998

Filmmaker Mark Fisher is a 1998 Amos Kendall Award recipient for an excellent career not related to deafness, presented by Gallaudet University, his alma mater, the world's only accredited liberal arts college for the deaf, located in Washington, D.C. He overcame many challenges to become the first deaf participant in the UCLA Extension live action film directors program and Chanticleer Films Discovery Program in Hollywood, both lauding his directorial capabilities via sign language interpreter. Currently, he has developed a remarkable live action short film project entitled "The Flower Man," a mystical and unusual love story that involves surreal imagery, striking music and lush visuals. This project will function as a showcase for his future films, entertainment geared for people of all ages.

Tony Kaye's Production Company, reputed for their new courageous direction in filmmaking style, is Mark's dedicated creative partner in producing "The Flower Man." The making of his film will help create a new wave in the industry with the concept that a talented hearing-impaired director can touch many with his inspired storytelling gifts.
