Synopsis:
House Keeper concentrates on a fugitive of the law. Whilst hiding in a remote village, he comes to realise the harshness of life and reality. The story looks at the transformation of a common man into a Saint.
As writer director Irshad Kamil worked hard to complete the film in the time frame, the results are now in front of your eyes.
A story of Tony (Sanjay Malhotra) - a small time criminal who is wrongly accused of terrorist allegations in USA. As his place is raided by the FBI, he is sent into hiding by his Big Boss, to a remote village in the middle of India. Here, he comes into contact with Meera (Priya Arya), who has chosen a path of peace and serving those around her as she is a nun.
Tony is forced to take refuge in this village, and he befriends a young boy Raja (Krishna). He is told by Meera that if he wishes to stay there, he must work. Tony is not happy about this, but has no other choice.
He feels he has entered a completely different world, and finds it hard to adjust to the ways of the poverty stricken community around him, where the locals do not take anything for granted. The amenities which the common man has in his day to day life would be luxuries for these villagers.
He finds it hard to attain peace, and while he sees the pain and suffering the people around him are dealing with, he starts to melt, and sees the harshness and reality that life has to show. He faces the reality of people doing without the necessities, which anyone in the western world would take for granted.
As he encounters more and more of the situations which come in front of him, he becomes more determined that he wants to do something for these people.
In the climax, he decided the only way he is able to do something for these people is to give himself up, so the villagers would be the bearers of the reward money for this wanted criminal.
He makes the call, and in no time the police come to arrest Tony. Before he is taken away, he tells the villagers that they must put an end to all their pains with the reward money, and they must build a proper school building for the children.
As he is taken back to the USA by the authorities, he is tried for his crimes. As he is innocent, apart from a few tax evasion fines, he is freed.
As he also lost his girlfriend in the raid at the beginning of the film, he feels there is nothing left for him in that country now (USA). As he had received a few letters from Raja while in jail, he decided to go back to that place and devote the rest of his life helping those villagers and children.
The story concludes with Tony playing with the children of that remote village, as he transforms from a criminal into a saint.
