The Sand Creek Massacre

Running Time: 56 minutes 40 seconds

Format project was originally shot in: DVCAM

Synopsis/Subject:
The peace-seeking Cheyennes believe they will live on the Colorado prairies forever--until the Sand Creek Massacre in 1864. It redefines them as a people and changes the course of American history between Indians and whites. They pass their oral histories down from generation-to-generation so that their youth can know "the truth" about how they lose their lands as each treaty to which they agree, to survive extermination, is broken.
