The 48 Hour Film Project
Compete with filmmakers from around the world to make the best short film in only 48 hours.
How To Join A Team
indieFILMS offers two ways to help you join a team. You can find a team, or they can find you. To get started, first, create an account and then develop your profile. You can browse the current projects and request a spot on the team, and the team leaders will have access to the profiles of people who want to be on a team. Please keep in mind that there are usually more people who want to be on a team than there are teams. One way around this is to use the site to form your own team! Best of luck! We hope to see you soon.
NOTE: Joining a team or posting your project on indieFILMS does not automatically enter you into the 48 Hour Film Project. You must also register directly at www.48hourfilm.com
About 48 Hour Film Project
The 48 Hour Film Project's mission is to advance filmmaking and promote independent filmmakers. Through its festival/competition, the Project encourages filmmakers and would-be filmmakers to get out there and make movies. The tight deadline of 48 hours puts the focus squarely on the filmmakers--emphasizing creativity and teamwork skills. While the time limit places an unusual restriction on the filmmakers, it is also liberating by putting an emphasis on "doing" instead of "talking."
How It Works
On Friday night, you get a character, a prop, a line of dialogue and a genre, all to include in your movie. 48 hours later, the movie must be complete. Then it will show at a local theater, usually in the next week. In 2010, nearly 40,000 filmmakers made 3,000 films in 80 cities on five continents. This year we're even bigger, with filmmakers from over 100 cities around the world taking the challenge to make a film in just 48 hours.
Prizes
Award winning films are screened at various local and international events such as Cannes, NAB and our annual Filmapalooza festival. Along with cash and award certificates, prizes can include free filmmaking gear and software as well as access to other film projects being developed through the ongoing partnership between indieFILMS and 48 Hour Film Project.
