Advice from Distributors

Mel Maron of Castle Hill (1995 Academy Award nominee A Great Day In Harlem, Two Deaths by Nicholas Roeg, Hotel Sorento with Joan Plowright, the restored version of Orson Welles’ Othello and The John Casavetes Retrospective) says:

"The number one thing I look for in an acquisition is a recognizable cast. In today’s marketplace that is extremely important. Without a (recognizable) cast, a film would have to be about a timely subject, something recognizable, a story based on an event or on somebody's life. The most important thing is it must have an appeal to the audience.

" I'd say there is no particular genre requirement for Castle Hill. We're looking for a good film. A 35mm film is better than a 16mm one, but if 16mm works for the subject matter, it can be acceptable."
